Robbery, burglary and motor vehicle theft went up in Oakland. As a result many business has closed down in District 3 and generally in Oakland which also means loss of jobs in our city.
We need to explore different safety options for safety can not be addresses independently from the other issues Oakland is facing.
Many police vacancies are not filled and as a result our police force is under staffed and we need to hire local and diverse police officers that are representative of our community members. We need to see fast response, more foot patrol and police vehicle presence especially around the main business streets. I will develop a close connection with our police force and community members to address crimes in our neighborhood.
We need to encourage community gathering and events around our parks. More community events in our parks will bring more safety. To do this the city will need to provide funds to organizations that empower community gathering.
We need to work with other East Bay cities as the safety of Oakland matters to them and vice versa.
We also need to seek for more material and resource help from state and federal to address safety in Oakland.
There are an estimated 5,490 people living in cars and streets in Oakland. A 9% jump from the last count in 2022. Also close to half of Oaklanders spent more than 30% of their income on rent. Among the highest in the country. With growing closure of businesses in Oakland it should not surprise us if we continue to see Oakland becomes more

As a City Council Member I will work to devise a transitional housing plan with services that provide shower, toiletry, free transportation to health facility and grocery stores. My office will also work to providing job training and help transition to self dependency.
Provided the above services, I'm in full support of the July 5th U.S. Supreme Court ruling that cities can clear homeless encampments in the Bay Area.
Working with the Mayor I will also advocate for more funds either from the county, state or federal government for more funding to build more affordable homes in Oakland. A common ground should also be designed between developers and the city for affordable housing quota in every building.
With growing budget deficit as a result of lack of understanding the budget and irresponsible decision allocation - if we continue in this direction Oaklanders will face a much bigger issue such as cutting budgets from the most needed services.
As your Council Member I will work to "Under Budget" and NOT overbudget. This will help us to save money and NOT over spend money.
I will also work with city administrators to pay close attention to "real state tax" in our city - as this budget fluctuates each year and we should not rely on it heavily.
With growing number of homelessness and illegal dumping, it has become a norm to see dirt in many part of District 3 and Oakland.
As a City Council Member my office will work to require the waste management company hired by the city to do more. Set up a toll free number for residents to call and report illegal dumping and the city will take strong action against dumpers. The city also needs, to hire a private company to get rid off illegally stationed cars.
Many small businesses and franchised corporations have closed and continue to close due to safety reasons in Oakland. As a result creating loss of sales tax income and job shortage in our city.
Small businesses hire many members of our community. They give meaning to Oakland life. My office will work to revive Oakland economy, provide safety by having police patrol in major business streets and fast response for any stealing and vandalism. I will also make it my priority to expedite business license permits and the city to budget funds and support organizations that provide business training.
Visit Telegraph street, you will witness many cars parked on top of the newly constructed islands. Those islands could have been a parking lot generating thousands of dollars for the city.
Without touching the bicycle lane, we must readjust the islands to make them a parking lot. This will create more parking lots on Telegraph street for people who want to visit our vibrant street and more income for the city from the parking meters.
Gun violence and suicide are among the leading cause of death in our communities. Our youth are our future and we need to invest in them and provide them a pathway to success.
As part of my policy I will prioritize working and providing city funds to organizations that provide vocational training, trade jobs, mental health wellness, suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention and other initiatives that assist our youth group.
Many parts of District 3 and Oakland streets are old and street signs are vandalized and hard to read.
As your City Council Member I will also make sure our city budget is well spend especially towards fixing our roads and street signs.
